HONOLULU (AP) — Officials say a swimmer who was found unresponsive after being pulled from waters off Oahu has died.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 55-year-old Ben Fung.
The Honolulu man had been brought to shore on Saturday by someone who noticed him unresponsive in choppy surf off Malaekahana Beach.
Lifeguards and Honolulu Fire Department personnel performed CPR on Fung until paramedics arrived.
He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
An autopsy to determine his cause of death has been scheduled for Monday.
